Finance Talk. How to prepare your family?

I hope this post is allowed. How are you all preparing your families for the economic trade wars and ongoing insecurities in the US? Can anyone recommend helpful resources for those of us looking to safeguard our families as much as possible from volatile markets, changing prices, etc?

I’m an LGBT parent looking at getting my family as ready as possible for any number of changes we may have to endure. I’ve looked at several finance subs and several of them go over my head. I was hoping to find some beginner/intermediate-friendly resources where the author or respondents share the same progressive mindset and where it in mind so that nobody is trying to talk me out of feeling the way I’m feeling about what’s going on in our country. (Not interested in hearing about if I’m overreacting.)
