Post-Blackout Debrief: Opinions Wanted
Hello everybody, as I’m sure you’ve all noticed, r/popheads is not set to private anymore. On the one hand, it is good to be back, on the other hand, we have currently seen very little effect of the blackout and many subreddits (including big ones such as r/music) have continued their protest by remaining blacked out or switching to restrictive mode. As mods, we were divided on how to continue with the current protest. We obviously still urge Reddit to revise these changes to the API, however, there are feelings we might be hurting the community more than the site by continuing to remain blacked out. For these reasons, we wanted to discuss this with you (our user base). That’s why we’re making this post, so let us know what you think. Should the sub go back to private? Should we go restrictive? Should we do another alternative (such as the touch-grass Tuesdays suggested by r/modcoord for subreddits that aren't going all the way)? Or do you have any other suggestions? Do not hesitate to let us know.
Disclaimer: For those saying we participated in the blackout without any proper announcement, we literally made a pinned mod post, as well as pinned mod comments in Daily Discussion threads leading up to it. Do not spread the narrative that we didn't tell you about it.
Warning: if you are not a member of this community and you are commenting here for the sole purpose of brigading, your comment will be removed and you will be banned. Non-negotiable. Popheads, do not interact with the trolls. Instead, please report their comments and a mod will take care of them.
