Is something wrong with me or coach is under qualified?
Hi there,
I’m 24F experienced beginner, a bit overweight (75 kg/165.3 lbs). Usually I have training in West Europe, but decided to take some beginner pole classes in Russia. I have some concerns, is it something weird? 1. Warm ups are like HIIT + a bit of stretching (front splits and cobra only), also it was with 1,5kg leg bands. At the end of warm up I was tired, not warmed up, sweaty, and had feeling like I am going to vomit. Is it the same in your studio? In my studio in Western Europe we don’t use weight, and for cardio we are doing jumping jacks and light run 2. No pole conditioning on Russian classes. I’m just used to straddle preps, climbing before we will do any combinations, poses, spins etc 3. On my first class I told to coach that I’m not doing inverts/straddle, because I want to do it with strength, not swing. And next day she told me to try straddle with swing. Why? It is just not safe, I can hit my leg, ribs, fall etc 4. Level of other students. I expect, that on beginner class everyone on the +/- same level. But I was the only one who wasn’t able to do brass monkey, shoulder mount, butterfly, inverted cross etc 5. Do you have pole cleaning culture? A lot of students in this Russian studio are using liquid grip, and I don’t (I have sticky hands). Here poles were dirty, and if I tried to do something with climbing, I just immediately slipped, and it was unreal to clean all of this old grip (it was first class). It was clean max 2 meters
Btw, I quit pole dancing in Russia three years ago, and started from scratch four months ago (gained 20 kg in the last two years). The hardest thing which I ever did was handspring. Anyway, I am absolutely sure that next time in Russia I will pick another coach, probably studio.
