Anybody who's gone to New Zealand from here, please give your input. It could potentially save someone from danger.
A friend of my cousin's is in a situation and I need your guys help on how she can proceed further in this matter.
For context, she's a uni student who got her nikkah done a year ago to her phupho's son. This dude has been proposing to her for a very long time since college days I believe and she's been trying to evade it. As they are cousins, she was aware of the type of person he is and why she chose to not accept his proposal.
One example is that, she and her family went on a religious trip to Iran and since they had seperate gathering for male and female, the girl was with her mom and phupho waiting for the men to arrive, meanwhile on the other side, her brother, that guy and another cousin were in separate quarters. The other cousin and his brother were waiting on him to get done with his shower. He haulted both of them to wait for him to get done but after waiting for so long they left to go pray as time was running out. So as the dude FINALLY gets done with his shower, he's upset that they left him behind and he's giving everybody the cold shoulder so one of his other phupho (the one who pushed this pairing and pampers this guy) goes to her brother and cousin to ask them to apologize to him and both of them protested that it isn't their fault and this is not something he's gonna apologize for (which is valid) and then his phupho came to talk to him and comfort him and this guy just PUSHES her. Also as they came back, he shuts himself in his hostel and they were soon preparing to leave and go back and this guy is STUBBORN as it gets and had everyone waiting on him AGAIN until they finally got someone to open the door and he's just there using his phone all nonchalant. The height of entitlement in this guy. So since then, with that incident in mind, she knew he isn't someone who's husband material.
But the nikkah was more or less done after alot of convincing from her dad's side, everybody ganged up on her and convinced her somehow that she might be wrong about him and basically gaslight her into accepting the proposal. She thought he might straighten up a bit after marriage so she decided to accept.
Spoiler alert; the pandora boxes just kept on opening.
Although rukhsaati hasn't happened yet, (the guy is in New Zealand)she took the time to know him 6 months after nikkah to really get to know him and give him a chance to prove himself character wise but he unfortunately did not live up to the standards at all.
You would think someone who's abroad would be more open minded but he did not believe in a woman having an education and he keeps on harping about the fact that she should leave her studies, "kyunke parh likh ke kya karna hai? Aurat ghar sambhalne ke liye hoti hai"
He is a narcissist, disrespects his wife, goes straight to ordering around and there no negotiating with him and questioning her intelligence.
He does not fulfill the rights of providing for her for a whole year that they are together, except that one time he sent her money but was so fussy about it, asking her where she spent the money. Since he lost his dad at a young age, he's considered a victim and gains everybody's pity.
To top it all off, the girl's dad takes her husband's side in everything and has now stopped providing financially for her (besides education) saying that "you're now his responsibility not mine". Her dad is the typical close minded extremist mindest type of man. Since this guy has been trying to propose to her constantly and she's been rejecting her but when she tried to tell her dad, he was accusing her of having a lover and saying that "what do you think your lover will come here? I won't accept him" and if she tries to take a stand now after nikkah, she's sure that he will kill her.
He doesn't want to do any shaadi or walima just straight up paper work and come to New Zealand. And now they are telling the girl to apply for it but she was wondering if any of you who live in New Zealand know of a way that she can evade the papers from getting accepted from New Zealand or in any way that it doesn't look like the girl did it on purpose? She wants to evade going to New Zealand for now before she plans her next move.
TLDR; A mutual of mine is in a pretty tight situation being nikkahfied to her phupho's son (who's practically a walking red flag) who currently resides in New Zealand and she's looking for ways to evade the paper work from going through so she can stay back for now.
