Infant car seat recommendation for car free families
I know this conversation has been broached before but this specific question hasn’t been addressed - I’m a soon-to-be first time mom in Manhattan and am completely lost with the car seat recommendation.
We don’t own a car and probably won’t for at least a couple of years - do I need to purchase a separate infant car seat or is there a convertible car seat that doesn’t require a base and is infant friendly?
I’m not too concerned about it fitting in a travel system. We have a secondhand Uppababy Vista and a hand me down Yo-yo Babyzen, but I imagine anytime we would be taking a taxi with baby, it would be to someone’s apartment or home before being out and about again so I don’t really care if it clicks into a stroller or not.
Any thoughts or recommendations? And if I have to buy a separate infant car seat, does anyone have any suggestions? I’m not price sensitive but also trying to be practical about not buying things we won’t use much (obviously in this case, I want a safe option but assume the car seats on the market are all crash impact approved?).
Thank you!
