What the book you liked the most that you eventually dropped or had a terrible ending?
For me, no contest, it's This Quest is Bullshit. It was a delightfully absurd take on a litrpg and was so creative and different but the final act such a let down. I reminded me of Wandavision, a super unique premise that ends in a painfully generic way. The spend like the entire series foreshadowing the MitM being bad but I figured it was SO obvious there's no way a series this unique will play the trope straight but they did. It was so boring and cliche, the muffin man should've been the final boss. Also the BBEG wants to destroy the world? Geez, never seen that before 🙄, it would've actually given Eve stakes if the BBEG's plot was to rid the world of pastries or maybe just scones specifically.
For me honorable mention is the Wandering Inn, though I have been meaning to resume it now, I've had a hard time picking it back up because of my brain won't let me read it without dealing on what happens at the end of volume 7. I just wanted a fun solstice party o(TヘTo) (Plus the idiot ball might be my most hated trope.)
