Bug spray on vacation

On vacation in the South of France and asked for bug spray at our hotel. Mosquitos are really eating us up! The very lovely bar man gave me a life hack tip: Always bring bug spray from your home country, as the bugs in vacation land are probably used to and immune to the local one. Thought I'd share as it made a lot of sense to me, and it was something I had not previously thought of!
