Cutting through scar tissue?

I'm 4 months post op djs+genio. The scar tissue from the genio is causing uncomfortable tightness and possibly contributing to some lower lip mobility issues. You can see that it's adhering to my gums.

My surgeon suggested cutting through the scar tissue to remove the adherence, but said that it could likely adhere again even after cutting it. Has anyone dealt with similar issues and had their scar tissue cut? Did it help?
