Lost STEM OPT EAD card and was recently laidoff

I have friend who was laidoff and was about receive an approved EAD card for that company, I know that you can apply for a replacement for EAD online, but that form is asking e verify number of that employer, if they mention their old employeer's E verify number would they get an RFE regarding this, has anyone been in this situation. Anything helps!
