Question regarding Frank Delgado's level of involvement (specifically live)

I've only seen Deftones live once and while they are easily one of my favourite bands, when I watch footage of them performing songs live, I often wonder what Frank is doing as I don't hear any keyboards in many of the songs. Can someone explain exactly what he is doing most of the time on stage? I'm aware this may be a dumb question to many die hard fans.
