What are your reasons for thrifting?

You guys, I really want to start getting pre-loved, gently used bears from Ebay or thrift stores but I hesitate only because my mind is still so rotted from consumerism. I would like to hear your personal reasons for buying used, the special appeal of that - ASIDE from the quality, since we all know most of the older items are usually better made in general.

Is it like the idea of adopting? Rehoming? The therapeutic process of cleaning and restuffing? Honoring the old memories and giving them new?

(I was always taught from a young age that thrifting was bad - I am trying REALLY hard to move away from this mindset! Please help! I want to do better for my planet!)
