Winter Layering for Hiking
Hi! I’d love your input regarding layering during wintertime. I’m curious as to how others dress when temps hit -10 to -20 Celsius.
I own a Cerium jacket and sweat a lot during my hikes. I went on a 7.6 km hike last weekend with total ascent 520m. It was about -13 Celsius. Here’s how I dressed (I was sweating during effort and getting cold a few minutes after stopping): Top - icebreaker base layer (260 zone) - ice breaker second layer (250) - Cerium jacket Bottom - Align leggings from Lululemon - icebreaker base layer (260) - Lululemon brushed pants with wool layer *I know 3 layers of pants seems a lot but my butt was still cold. The bottom isn’t the issue, it’s really the top I can’t figure out.
I’m thinking of adding a shell (Beta LT? Worth it? Squamish?) and removing a base layer.
Thanks!
