Series that lost hype because of schedule slips

Something that I wanted to discuss for today’s topic was how there were franchises that used to be well established as they had gotten praise for their worldbuilding such as the writing.

But then the hype starts to decrease because the series runs into release problems as one example is Game of Thrones as way back in the mid 00s, the franchise was still getting praise for their worldbuilding as people back then loved reading the books, but then fan reception of the franchise would start to change due to how long the books would take.

To clarify, I will use the game system the PS3 to measure the passage of time between the 4th and 5th book as correct me if I am wrong, but when GOT got its 4th book, it came at late 2005, and the 5th book wasn’t released until at least 5 years after the PS3’s original launch.

This may not seem like a big deal at first, but my point is that what I started to notice about the franchise was that the release schedule for the books was a lot slower since the mid 00s as I can see why that would get on fans nerves.

But if this post sounds like I am just ragging on GOT, let me use a different example as let’s start with Hunter X Hunter as from what I know is that the manga was supposed to go on for roughly 5 years judging by the author’s notes in the first volume where he said that he wanted to end the series around 2004, and I say this because I am curious if the franchise will ever find a conclusion at all.
