ASRJC students are hardworking but the results are not showing.
As the JAE selection process is in full swing right now, I would like to share my observations about ASRJC as a former student there.
During my time in ASRJC, I noticed that most students were quite hardworking. Even during orientation week you would see people studying. Throughout the year I would see some very consistent muggers. There is a visible build-up when major exams are approaching and people are getting serious about studying. The culture seemed to be a very healthy one of work hard, play hard.
Despite all this, the results never quite showed. In every exam the cohort performance is pretty bad. The performance is sorely disappointing when compared to my friends from other JCs, and they have harder papers too!. And that includes the infamous math.
I am not criticising the school or students here, but it seems difficult to reconcile. It is plainly evident that ASR is below its tier when it comes to A level performance. I still don’t know why.
