My thoughts on Sugarshack Downtown

Okay yes it’s Bonita but close enough! I was there last Thursday before they officially opened so things were scaled down. I heard from friends who were there Saturday that it was kind of crazy—long waits and running out of beer!

Just wanted to share my thoughts as people are always complaining there is nothing to do here. Definitely put this on your list.

Got there around 7:30 to live music by the band West Wave they’re kind of funk, indie, r&b. Mix of originals (but really good) and some more well known songs. They’re going to have different bands all the time but I hope this band comes back I would definitely go just to see them. The focus is going to be on legit musicians most of the time so not the sometimes iffy live music you get at some places around here. Sound quality was also amazing and it wasn’t tooooo loud. Just right.

Service was actually incredible for it being the first week they’re open. Got our first round at the bar and then sat at a table. Ordered food for a big group including pizza, wings, and fries. They had a limited menu with elevated bar food. Everything was good we all agreed the pizza and fries maybe needed another minute but still delish. Good prices, too.

I might like more options on tap? But I was happy to have the Ankrolab blonde.

I actually love that there is a permanent kitchen here! The previous chef at Rebecca’s came over to start this one so definitely a good pedigree there. It’s nice that it’s just not a food truck—you can get that across the street at Rooftop!

Tons of tables, other areas to sit, some lawn games, two huge bars. Would be a good spot to watch the Super Bowl I’m sure.

Talked to one of the partners on the way out and he was incredibly friendly and honest about how it’s going and goals they have. Definitely excited for this spot and what they’re going to bring to the downtown Bonita area.

Including pics of the menus…again I was there for soft opening so I’m sure the food menu will change but at least you can get an idea.

Waited so long for this spot to open but it was worth the wait.
