Launcher problems

Yesterday every time I tried to open my minecraft launcher I got one of two messages: - that the native launcher could not update - that the game had crashed

Or it just wouldn’t open at all but would running in my task manager. I googled solutions and tried repairing, resetting, and reinstalling it but none of those worked. Why does this happen? Are there any solutions?
