Familiar issue

hello, im trying to figure something out to see if I am doing something wrong here.

so I wanted to get the machine badge by collecting all the magatia mobs. I have nearly completed it but rurumo will not drop a familiar card. am I doing something wrong? some of them were a pain but I have killed rurumo over 100 times and he has never dropped a familiar card.
