Just tried the Trails series for the first time--Trails Through Daybreak. Is the writing in the series always this embarrassingly CRINGE??

After hearing rave reviews for so long for the Legend of Heroes series, as well as how amazing the lore is, I was excited to finally start playing Trails Through Daybreak. Now I've played dozens of JRPG's (and CRPG's) of all sorts and stripes for many years. But the dialogue in this game is so childishly embarrassing that I don't think I can get past the demo. Every line of dialogue seems to be designed to show how "cool" Van is and how all the ladies love him. Good heavens we get that in the first 5 seconds of the first cutscene. I feel like my IQ is dropping after every conversation in this game. My question is this: does it continue in this manner though the game and are most of the other Trails games like this? It's so bad it motivated me to post here lol.

Edit: Also the profanity is some of the most absurdly placed I've ever heard in a game. It feels added just to sound cool and is consequently laughably unnatural. It's almost as bad as the FFVII remake profanity--I don't think anything will ever top that in terms of sheer awkwardness!
