Is playing as Godzilla even worth the hassle?

I’m inclined to not bother anymore. I feel like I’m just wasting time waiting for and chasing the portal, instead of just going hunting.

Why should I continue chasing the elusive reptile?

Update: From what most of you guys say it does sound fun, and something one should try at least once. I’ve gotten some useful tips, so I’ll keep trying.
