Brilliance.com vs Blue Nile

Hi peeps!

I’m currently looking at two emerald-cut diamonds, but I’m baffled by the significant price difference between them. One is from Brilliance.com, priced at $4,300, and the other is from Blue Nile, priced at $12,000. Both are very similar on paper, but I’m wondering if I’m missing something critical here.

Here are the details:

Diamond from Brilliance: • Carat Weight: 5.27 ct • Color: E • Clarity: VVS2 • Cut: Super Ideal • Certification: IGI • Depth/Table: 68.8% / 63% • Length-to-Width Ratio: 1.55 • Culet: Long • Fluorescence: None

Diamond from Blue Nile: • Carat Weight: 5.03 ct • Color: E • Clarity: VVS2 • Cut: Ideal • Certification: (Unclear but possibly GIA) • Depth/Table: 67.9% / 65% • Length-to-Width Ratio: 1.44 • Culet: None • Fluorescence: None

Key Differences: • The Brilliance diamond is larger (5.27 ct vs. 5.03 ct), but the Blue Nile diamond has slightly better proportions (1.44 L/W ratio vs. 1.55). • The Blue Nile diamond has no culet, while the Brilliance one has a “long” culet. • Brilliance is IGI-certified, while Blue Nile might be GIA-certified (uncertain). • Price difference: $7,700 more for Blue Nile! My questions are: 1. I understand that GIA certification often has stricter grading, but is that worth such a huge price gap? 2.Do you think the Brilliance diamond is too good to be true, or is Blue Nile just overpriced due to branding? 3. Anyone ever buy from brilliance? What’s your experience?

Any advice or personal experiences with these companies would be super helpful! Should I go for the cheaper Brilliance diamond or invest in the Blue Nile one for better quality assurance?

Thanks in advance! 😊
