How do you see Piccolo and Gohan's relationship?

I'm not saying Piccolo is Gohan's father, but how do you see their relationship? Like, nowadays I see him as part of Gohan/Goku's family.

He even takes care of Pan and looks after her as a nanny, I don't see him just as a master, to me he is more like Gohan's uncle (I know he is only 3 years older than Gohan, but Piccolo clearly and aged faster, due to being an alien and the circumstances of his birth, so he is an adult)

But how do you see their relationship?
