Getting your head right
I don’t know who needs to hear this but I have to say that I think a key to success with CPAP is it’s mostly mental. Yeah of course we need the right gear, but we also need the right attitude. I think that starts with acceptance that sleep will not be the same for you again. You are now on a journey to find your new normal, but you have to let go of the notion that you’ll have the same sleep habits you’ve had for decades. Change is hard, but in this case it is a GOOD thing. Your sleep was bad for you; it may have even been killing you, so this quest for new habits is just so important. I used the time while I was waiting for my machine to be delivered to meditate on this so that by the time I got it set up I was ready, even excited to give it a try. So, if you find yourself resenting the machine, I’m here to say it’s not the machines fault. Help it help you by giving it a chance and setting your grumbling aside. Get your head right and I think the transition will be that much easier. I wish you long nights of blissful repose, friends
