Holistic Vets - Itch meds
Hi folks,
I have a dog that is extremely itchy. Poor girl is having a rough time and it's been like this a long time. My wife is a big believer in traditional meds and home remedies and has tried everything.
We recently did put her on apoquel for 3 weeks due to an issue and boy oh boy did it fix everything.
However, my wife is against putting the dog on cytopoint or apoquel for the long term because she's worried about dangerous side effects, and now that we've stopped our dogs itch has come back. When my wife google's about these medicines there are many articles about how dangerous they are, and how dogs have died. I see a trend that these are 100% written by holistic Vets.
Personally I think there is an obvious bias in their writing but my wife won't budge.
My vet centre feels the meds are very safe and haven't seen any severe side effects in their use. I myself am very pro medicine/science but my wife can't get over these cautionary posts and articles warning to not use these meds.
I'm not really looking for itch/skin solutions, I'm just curious about these holistic Vets that seemingly see deadly results from apoquel and cytopoint.
Any input is appreciated.
